FRED STONE

Final Thunder
"In 1930, eight years after he was retired to stud, the eternal friendship of Man O’War and groom Will Harbut was to begin. For the next seventeen years, the big red horse and the old groom lived out their lives together at Faraway Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. On October 3, 1947, Will Harbut died of a heart attack. Within thirty days, the friend whom Harbut had called “Da Mostest Hoss” was dead.

This painting depicts the two friends, shortly before their deaths. Thundering across the sky, Man O’War leads a field of horses, twenty-six years back in time."
